Juan Carlos Villa
Associate Research Scientist, Texas Transportation Institute
Mr. Villa has more than twenty five years of professional experience in Latin America and in the United States. Has performed research, consulting, and engineering services in the logistics and transportation sectors. Mr. Villa has also coordinated systems development, implementation and integration projects.
Mr. Villa has a broad experience in economic and feasibility studies for transportation projects in the U.S., Mexico and other Latin American countries. Mr. Villa actively participated in the successful railroad privatization program in Mexico. He also has worked analyzing international trade flows and performed market analyses for port and railroad projects in Mexico, Central and South America, and has experience in the development of travel demand forecasting models for various transportation modes. Mr. Villa has participated in various projects that involve international financing agencies like World Bank, Inter‐American Development Bank and private institutions.
Mr. Villa is a member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committee on Freight Transportation Planning and Logistics, and the International Trade and Transportation Committee. He is past president of the Council of Logistics Management Roundtable‐ Mexico City (2000‐2001), and holds a Master of Science degree in Transport Studies from Cranfield University, England.
