Dr. Kathy Pain
Research Fellow, The Young Foundation

Kathryn Pain is a Research Fellow at The Young Foundation in London and an Associate Research Fellow at Loughborough University She is a professional urban planner with a PhD in Geography from the University of Reading, a Corporate Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. She has held academic appointments at the University of Birmingham, the Open University and Loughborough University.

Her publications and consultancies focus on global city relations, the advanced service economy, sustainable development, European and UK policy. Her recent book, The Polycentric Metropolis: Learning from Mega‐city Regions in Europe, (London: Earthscan, 2006) with Professor Sir Peter Hall, University College London, reports the findings from their EUR 2.4 million North West Europe study.
