Phil Davies
Senior Consultant, IBI Group

Philip Davies is a transportation economist with extensive freight and passenger transportation research experience. He was employed for 18 years as Senior Regional Economist for Transport Canada in Edmonton and Vancouver. In 2005 he was appointed Director of Research for the Lower Mainland Port Trucking Task Force. The Task Force was appointed by the federal and provincial governments to make recommendations on industrial relations and por efficiency issues related to port drayage following a strike by drivers in the summer of 2005.

Since joining IBI Group in April 2006, Mr. Davies has served as Project Manager on several projects related to goods movement and intermodal transportation, including a study on the potential for Inland Container Terminals in BC and an analysis of supply chain benefits from infrastruture improvements on major highway corridors. Recent publications include a study of container drayage trip routes in the Lower Mainland, a profile of the Lower Mainland drayage sector, and an analysis of the impact of off‐dock storage of empty containers on the container transportation system.

Mr. Davies holds a B.A. Honours in Economics and Political Science and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Saskatchewan. He also holds a Diploma in Transportation Management from the Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation.
