Monica Blaney
Government of Alberta

Monica Blaney is currently the Manager Rail/Intermodal/Marine of the Strategic Policy Branch of Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation. She has twenty years of transportation related experience in both the private and public sector. As a senior manager at one of Canadaʹs major railways she developed specific expertise in analyzing and developing multi‐modal and rail service packages to improve shippers' access to markets.

As a public servant she started in the Alberta Agriculture, Food And Rural development Policy Secretariat working on domestic and transportation related issues before moving over to the trategic Policy Branch.

On her present position she deals with policy matters and legislation related to the movement of freight cargo for the province of Alberta.

Monica graduated from the University of Manitoba with degrees in Statistics and Agriculture. She is currently doing post graduate work in Maritime Business and Logistics through a university in Australia.
